Thank you to all of you who attended the Surrey Spitfire on the first real day of Spring this year.  We are pleased to report that there were some great performances and those coming across the finish line had big smiles across their faces.  Well done to all those who took part.

This was the first running of the event and was bound to come with trials and tribulations.  Thank you to all of you who have provided constructive feedback.  The course will be accurately described as 'undulating' in future material.  We will ensure that there are more Jelly Babies and energy drink at the advertised water station (apologies to those of you who didn't get any) and will look into getting more toilets and baggage 'handlers'.  We are also looking at the possibility of changing the route slightly so the 2 miles on the aerodrome are completed at the first part of the race rather than the end.

Congratulations to all who participated and hope to see you at the next running of the event on 3rd October.

This fantastic new two lap event in the beautiful Surrey countryside offers an undulating, accurately measured 20 mile road race.  Perfect for pre-marathon training.

Starting from the famous Dunsfold Aerodrome the route follows country lanes through Dunsfold village and surrounding areas.  The route is undulating with one or two testing but very short climbs.  The run offers the perfect opportunity to practice your marathon race strategy and get that most important 20 mile training run in your legs.

Dunsfold Aerodrome has a distinguished history.  Established with the onset of WWII it is credited as the site of the development of the Harrier, Hawk and Hunter aircraft.  It is now probably best know as the home of BBC One's Top Gear.

The Route

Start and finish at Dunsfold Aerodrome.  The route leaves the airfield after one mile and turns left through country lanes to the pretty village of Dunsfold and the surrounding area before returning to the aerodrome through the South gate.  The Surrey Spitfire is two laps.  The route is mostly flat with the odd undulation making it potentially very fast.  Water stations are marked on the map with a blue 'WS'.  They are spaced approximately 3 miles apart.  Energy drinks will be made available at certain water stations.  Specific details will be confirmed nearer to the event.

Race HQ

The race HQ is Dunsfold Aerodrome.  A map of the HQ can be found here.  There are toilets, showers and secure baggage facilities available.  Run to Live, the local running specialist will be onsite with a store with lots of goodies available for purchase.

Race Entry

The race will open early in the autumn
